| ¡Û Buddha¡¯s Birthday |
| We commemorate Shakamuni Buddha¡¯s birth and enlightenment. The main service is followed by the Parade of the Lotus Lantern in which members participate in an evening vigil, symbolizing our inner wisdom and light. |
| |
| ¡Û Great Enlightenment Day (Founder¡¯s Day)
|
| The ceremony celebrates the supreme enlightenment of Sotaesan, the founding master of Won Buddhism. This event is also symbolic of our common spiritual birthday when we are given the chance to restore our true selves by reflecting on his teachings. During the same week of Great Enlightenment Day, free acupuncture treatment is offered to all those who are interested. Dr. Rev. Seo from the Washington Won Buddhist temple will provide this free service. |
 |
| ¡Û Won Buddhist Memorial
|
| In this ceremony, we offer prayer to the founding fathers of Won Buddhism, our own ancestors, all saints and sages in the past, and our loved ones who passed away. It is an opportunity to reflect on our roots and express our gratitude and appreciation in a setting that promotes compassion and guidance. Won Buddhists traditionally include a list of their ancestors¡¯ names to honor each of their lives in this service. |
| |
| ¡Û Dharma Authentication Day |
| This ceremony commemorates the dharma approval of Won Buddhism's opening from the realm of universal truth. We commemorate the event of Sotaesan¡¯s nine disciples¡¯ dedicated prayer and their willingness to sacrifice their lives to deliver all people. In this service, a dharma name is given to the person who decides to walk on the spiritual path according to the Buddha¡¯s teaching. |
| |
| ¡Û Year End Service
|
| We hold a Year-End Service on the last Tuesday of every year to reflect upon our past year with special prayer and bows of reverence. |
| |
| ¡Û Change Your Mind Day |
| The Won Sangha has participated in this event where Buddhists of all traditions gather together for one day¡¯s meditation and dharma study, and sharing information. |
| |
| |
